Strawberry Ridge Golf Course
By Valentine J. Brkich
Two miles north of Zelienople, just off of Route 19 in Lancaster Township (Butler County), you’ll find a scenic, sprawling piece of land known as Strawberry Ridge.
Over the past 12 years, the McNulty family and friends have taken great care to transform and improve the course a piece at a time and plan on adding additional improvements in years to come.
Strawberry Ridge is one of western Pennsylvania’s most beautiful and challenging public golf courses. Offering expansive flat fairways and large inviting greens, the 18-hole championship course was specifically designed to accommodate all skill levels of play. All around you’ll find picturesque countryside vistas that provide the perfect tranquil environment for an exhilarating round of golf.
Measuring over 6000 yards with a par of 70, Strawberry Ridge offers an attractive challenge for any lover of the game. The facility features a driving range with natural grass tees and target holes of varying lengths, as well as a practice sand trap and putting green to help get you warmed up for your round.
This year, they are opening a new elaborate short game facility along with new tee boxes on #8, #15, #16 and #18 for added length for the avid golfer.
Owners Tim and Ann McNulty know this land better than anyone else. And they should, after all, seeing as how they designed and built it. The McNulty’s newly revamped website at strawberryridgegolfcourse.com is constantly update with new information.
“It’s a completely new site,” says Ann. “We specifically designed it to make it more user-friendly and to help our customers search and find information much more efficiently.”
In addition to offering online tee-time scheduling, strawberryridgegolfcourse.com enables visitors to join the course’s E-Specials Club emailing list, view their calendar of special events, and even check the local weather forecast before they hit the tees.
Strawberry Ridge’s Ridge Pub and Restaurant offers their famous sandwich menu daily and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday features their entrée menu.
If you’re looking to fine-tune your backswing, Strawberry Ridge also offers professional instruction from Tom Donaldson, who completed the 2010 Hank Haney “Teach the Teacher” program in Dallas, and has over 26 years of golfing experience.
“No matter what level you’re at, Tom can help you improve your power, accuracy, and consistency,” says Tim. “We’re so happy to offer such a valuable resource to our golfers at Strawberry Ridge.”
Strawberry Ridge has great outing packages to accommodate your outing needs. Whether it be for fundraising or charity, they offer outings at reasonable rates and serve up great food.
The McNulty’s are happy with how far the course has come over the years. But they’re always looking for ways to make the course even better for their customers.
“We’ve come a long way,” adds Ann, “but we’re always trying to improve. We truly appreciate all the support from our loyal customers, and because of them, we want to make Strawberry Ridge the best that it can be. If you’ve never been here, please come out and see what a great course this really is.”
Now that summer’s in full swing (pun intended), dust off your clubs and take the short ride out to Strawberry Ridge Golf Course. You’ll be so glad that you did.
