Lakeview Golf Resort & Spa
Two championship courses.
Breathtaking views of mountains and lakes.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
If you think that a great golf resort has to be expensive, prepare for a change of view. At Lakeview Golf Resort & Spa, you don’t have to spend a lot to be treated like a V.I.P. And that’s why we’re a favorite destination for vacationers and meeting planners alike.

Our two championship courses, Lakeview and Mountainview, are unequalled for beauty, playability and challenge. The legendary Lakeview Course boasts magnificent tree-lined fairways, perfectly manicured greens, and has been ranked among the top 100 courses in America. Lakeview has many signature holes, but the most talked about hole is the 620 yard 18th. This is one of the most challenging par 5’s in golf, and after 50 years of play, the hole has never been reached in two. The Lakeview Course has been the home of many prestigious tournaments, and will be host to the 2007 West Virginia Open. The Mountainview Course winds through the heart of the Allegheny forest and features gently rolling fairways, scenic views, and well manicured undulating greens. There are many breathtaking holes, but the par-4 10th hole offers a very challenging approach with a gorgeous view of Cheat Lake in the background.
Lakeview Golf Resort & Spa was founded in 1950 by Ward Christopher who had a vision of a challenging golf course nestled next to Cheat Lake in Morgantown. Golf architect James Harrison built the initial 9-hole Lakeview Course.
In 1954, nine additional holes were added to transform the layout of the golf course into a championship caliber course. Lakeview’s reputation began to grow in the 1950s. In 1958, Sam Snead won the West Virginia Open and set the course record of 67. The Lakeview Course will once again be host to the West Virginia Open in 2007.
In 1971, Jack Nicklaus played Arnold Palmer in an exhibition match and tied the course record, which still stands today.
In 1984 Lakeview commissioned famed golf course architect Brian Ault, to design a second 18-hole course, appropriately named Mountainview.
Besides outstanding golf, Lakeview has 187 deluxe guest rooms, 52 two-bedroom executive townhouses, 2 full-service restaurants, 34,000 square feet of function space for meetings, a fitness complex complete with indoor tennis and basketball courts, a climbing wall and aerobic facilities. Spa Roma, a full service spa and salon, offers everything from skin and health care to massage therapy and Vichy baths. Lakeview also offers family-oriented recreational activities and events for the kids. An extensive million-dollar resort renovation project is scheduled to be completed by April 2007.
Lakeview Golf Resort & Spa is within driving distance of Cooper’s Rock National Park, where mountain biking and hiking on historical trails are added attractions. In addition, the resort works with local outfitters to package other local attractions including winery tours, boating, white water rafting and horseback riding.
Lakeview Golf Resort & Spa is conveniently located just off exit 10 (Cheat Lake) on WV I-68 in Morgantown, WV. Lakeview offers a variety of 1, 2 and 3 night packages for golf and/or spa vacations starting at $169.99 per person.
