Cherry Creek Golf Club
Set amidst the picturesque rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania and nestled among multiple ponds and streams, is Cherry Creek Golf Club. Built in 1994, with an incredible expansion and redesign completed this year, makes this new 6,175 plus yard championship course as challenging as it is fun to play.
Cherry Creek takes great pride in its immaculate and country club conditioned fairways, bunkers and greens. In fact, they use only USGA specified bent grass on their lush fairways. To compliment the incredible conditions are the natural beauty of the gentle rolling terrain, the wooded setting, the numerous pristine ponds and the crisp streams that meander through the magnificent 18-hole course.
New for 2008: They have beefed up their par 4’s and eliminated a par-3. “We’ve removed numerous trees, relocated cart paths and changed the first three holes now starting with two par 4’s,” said Kristi Bompiani, LPGA Professional and General Manager at Cherry Creek.
In addition to the new upgrades, the designation of a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” was recently awarded to the course. The educational division of Audubon International gave Cherry Creek this distinction as one of only 12 courses in the entire state of Pennsylvania to have this honor. In fact, they join only 389 other courses in the world with this privilege.
This club has not only long been known for its incredible conditions but for its warm hospitality as well. “I honestly believe that no one treats and appreciates the golfers better than our staff,” said Bompiani. “We try very hard to make sure that every golfer who plays our course has the most enjoyable round of golf possible,” she added.
Cherry Creek has become renowned for its incredible golf packages and impeccable service. They invite you to schedule any size group from 20 to 140 golfers. The professional staff can help you arrange every last detail of your event. They offer numerous food and beverage packages to fit every group’s budgetary needs. “We can help orchestrate your event so that you and your group need not worry about anything other than which way your putt breaks,” Bompiani teased.
The new changes at the facilities at Cherry Creek are great for the avid and novice golfers alike. You can start your experience with a trip to their driving range and practice area that feature all-grass tees, target green, putting green and grass and sand bunkers. “We are very excited to show golfers our new changes. We have repositioned ourselves in the local market to provide a much better playing experience with country club conditions and at a more attractive price,” said Bompiani.
After golf, the amenities inside the club let you relax in style. The newly renovated full-service restaurant by DeNunzio’s is a wonderful place to eat a fantastic meal after golf or to stop by for a drink. It is also a wonderful place to have dinner with the family. They also offer an expansive 19th hole in the pavilion with a brand new outdoor bar with flat screen TV’s. DeNunzio’s has everything from burgers to full-course meals and when it comes to providing food for your outing or party, you’ll have a hard time finding someone that can do it better.
To complement the fabulous golf and other amenities is a newly designed pro shop with the hottest and newest equipment on the market with prices that are hard to beat. “We offer something for everyone,” says Bompiani. “Our pro shop is stocked with Titleist, Taylor Made, Cobra, Ping, Callaway and many others brands. We can also custom order any club and we have demo clubs for our golfers to use on the range,” she added.
The golf club is located only a few minutes southwest of Greensburg, PA and only two miles from the New Stanton exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It is easily accessible from just about anywhere. They are located less than 30 minutes from Monroeville and the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
